Member Segments

Member Segments let you group your members and use those groups to control what content they see, when they see it, and whether they can access it. This guide covers how to create segments and how to use them across your platform.

How segments work

A segment is a group of members. You define membership using filters, or you add members manually. Filter-based segments update automatically as member data changes, so a member who cancels their subscription or completes a piece of content will move into or out of the relevant segments without any action from you.

Creating a segment

Segments are created and managed in the Members area of the admin.

  1. Go to Members

  2. Select + Create Segment in the bottom left

3. Name the segment and choose Manual or Dynamic (filter-based)

Dynamic segments

Dynamic segments use rules to determine membership. Members are added and removed automatically as their data changes. To set up a dynamic segment:

  1. Create a new segment, give it a name and hit 'Dynamic Segment' .

2. Add a filer by clicking the +Add filter button, and choose from the following dropdown list:

3. In this example we'll choose 'Joined'.

4. Choose the content that a member needs to have joined to be added to this segment:

5. You'll see the member list update in real time to reflect who matches:

6. To narrow the segment further, add additional filters and set the match condition to 'Match: All Conditions' . In this example, we'll select an additional 'Engagement' filter, then select 'Push Notifications' Enabled ✅.

Example: A segment with two conditions, has joined 'Amari Fitness Program' and has Push Notifications Enabled. This segment will only include members who meet both criteria. As more members join this program and enable push notifications, the segment updates automatically.

Available filter criteria

  • Member Property - filter by profile data created in member profiles form , e.g. experience level.

  • Engagement status - active, downloaded, or push-enabled members

  • Purchased - members Purchase History, Trial status, Active Subscription, Canceled subscription, Product(s)

  • Joined - members that have joined/enrolled specific content with a join action :

  • Completed- members that have completed specific content with a mark complete action :

Manual segments

Manual segments have no rules. You add and remove members yourself. This is useful for things like moderator lists, cohorts, or any group you want to curate directly.

Members are added to manual segment by hitting the + Add Member button in the top right:

Keep in mind that members will not move in or out of a manual segment dynamically. You are responsible for keeping the list current.

Scheduling content by segment

Each segment has its own Calendar tab, and segments also appear in the global calendar switcher. This lets you schedule content specifically for a segment on fixed calendar dates.

From within a segment:

  1. Open the Calendar tab

  2. Create a new scheduled item, such as a workout, a piece of content, or a push notification

  3. Set the date (or date range) for when it should appear

This gives you control over what each group of members sees and when, without affecting anyone outside that segment. Email scheduling per segment is coming soon.

Showing or hiding content by segment

In the page builder, each block has a Conditions option in the right-hand panel. Use this to show or hide that block based on segment membership.

  1. Select the block you want to target

  2. Open the Conditions option in the right-hand panel

  3. Set the block to show only for members in a specific segment

Example: A testimonial block set to show only for members who have not yet made a purchase. Members who have purchased already won't see it.

Showing or hiding blocks like this is useful for a range of scenarios, including:

  • Showing premium content only to paying members

  • Hiding marketing or sales blocks from members who have already purchased

  • Surfacing different content to new versus established members

Conditional blocks are available on all plans.

Filtering your members list by segment

To view the members in a specific segment, use the filter options at the top of your Members list and select the segment you want to view. This gives you a scoped view of that group for review or manual management.

Plan availability

Creator-defined segments are available on pro, business and enterprise.Free and Base plans have access to the built-in segments only (not custom manual or dynamic segments).
