How to Cancel Your Movement Plan

If you've decided to close down your Movement app, here's exactly what to do. The short version: cancel your members' subscriptions first, then let us know & we'll take it from there.

⚠️ Removing or deleting a member from your Movement app does not cancel their subscription.

Their subscription lives in Stripe, separately from their member profile in your app. If you delete their profile without canceling the subscription first, Stripe will keep billing them — and keep paying out to you — even though they no longer have access to your app.

To avoid surprise charges (for your members) and support headaches (for you), always cancel the subscription before you remove the client.

Step 1: Cancel your members' subscriptions

Go through your active members and cancel each of their subscriptions in Stripe. Depending on your situation, one of these existing guides covers the exact steps:

Work through your full member list before moving to the next step. If you skip this, members can be left with an active subscription and no app to use it in.

Step 2: Let us know you're ready

Once every member subscription has been canceled, reach out to Movement Support and confirm you're done. Let us know:

  • That all member subscriptions have been canceled in Stripe

  • That you're ready to close your account and want your app and data deleted

Step 3: We delete your app and data

Once you've confirmed, our team will delete your app and associated data. This step is irreversible.

A few things worth knowing 💭

Just want to downgrade instead? You don't need to go through this process — you can change your plan tier at any time from your account settings. This full cancellation flow is only for closing your app entirely.

Billing for your own Movement plan: Canceling stops your own plan from renewing going forward — you won't be charged again once your current billing period ends.
