The Member to Member Messaging feature transforms the way your community interacts, allowing them to connect in private, one-on-one chats and exclusive group chats, handpicked by members themselves.
Enabling Member to Member Messaging in your app
Navigate to your global app settings.
Scroll down until you see the ‘Messaging’ section and click the ‘+’ icon to expand it.
You will notice a new ‘Allow member to member messaging’ toggle. By default this is toggled off.
To enable members to message each other in your app, simply toggle ‘Allow member to member messaging’ on, then hit ‘Save & Publish’.
How your members can control their member to member messaging preferences
Your members can control whether they are available for other members to message directly from their account details page.
Under the ‘Settings’ section, they will see a ‘Members can message me’ button. If you’ve enabled Member to Member Messaging in your app, this will default to enabled for each member.
💡 Note: App owners and teammates with messaging profiles will not see these settings as members can already message them directly.
3. Members can override this by clicking on the ‘Members can message me button’ then clicking ‘No’ from the dropdown.
4. Once a member disables Member to Member Messaging from their settings, they will no longer appear in the ‘Messaging’ modal for other members to start a conversation with.
💡 Note: These preferences can be updated at any time
