Supporting and managing Events and Live classes is easy with our dedicated templates . This guide will provide a walkthrough for how to use these templates to support and organise everything from live online sessions to in person meetups. Whether it's a series of workshops, a 1 on 1 fitness class with a client, or an educational seminar, our Events & Classes templates equip you with the tools to bring your community together in a meaningful way.
Getting Started
Navigate to the 'Events & Live Classes' section of the template library:
Hit [+Create New] > [Page]. You will be taken to our template library. Scroll down and locate the 'Events & Live Classes' section. This is your starting point for creating spaces where you can manage and support anything from live online classes to in-person events and meetups.
2. Choose a Template:Choose one of our pre-made and totally customisable templates to structure your live class or events with. These templates are designed to streamline the setup process and ensure a consistent look and feel for your events. When you click on the template, you will see a preview of what it looks like for members on the righthand side. Once you’ve found a template you want to use, hit the ‘Use this template’ button.
3. Give the Event / Live class a name from the modal that pops up after selecting a template, then hit [Create Live Class].
The Live Classes Content Type1. After creating the Live Class, you will be dropped into the page builder.
2. Creating a live class / event using one of these templates also creates a new ‘Live Classes’ content type in your account. This content type is where you can create, manage and edit all of your live classes and events from.
Customising the Template
You can customise these templates however you like to best support your live class / event. Here are some general suggestions:
Replace the template’s imagery and text with your own to showcase the event or class.
Add relevant details for the event (such as meet up time and location or a link to the livestream or virtual meeting if the event is online) in a nested subpage, so members who sign up for the event / live class stay informed.
💡 Example nested ‘Class Details’ page: A nested page like this is a great place to outline the event or class details for your members. They will be taken to this page after they join the event / class. Feel free to update the name of this page to whatever you want. You should include the link to your livestream here, and any other details about the class or event that will be useful for your members.
Monetising Events and Classes
Products for Access: Set up different products for your live classes and events. These can then be added to the access rules of the event, so only members who have purchased these products can access the ‘details’ nested page.
Require Purchase Rule: Implement 'Require Purchase' access rules for your event or class. This means only members who have bought the necessary product(s) can access these exclusive events or live classes.
This is what members will see when they click on a live class / event with access set to ‘Require Purchase’:
Once they have purchased the product to unlock access, they will see a ‘Join Class’ button.
When members join the class, it will be automatically added to their in-app schedule for whatever date you’ve chosen. After joining, members will also see and ‘Add to Calendar’ button, which will add this class to whatever external calendar is associated with their email address.
💡 An ‘event’ must be scheduled/have a scheduled date on it otherwise you cant see who’s attending. Its recommended to also schedule any nested pages, such as ‘Class Details’ page, so this will also be added to member’s calendars after they join.
Integrating External Live-Streaming
Setting Up External Streaming: While Movement doesn't currently offer in-app live-streaming, our Events and Classes templates are a great way to support your external live sessions. You can easily link out to any live-streaming platform, like Zoom or Google Meet, from within your event or class page. If you’ve set up ‘Require Purchase’ or ‘Private’ access rules of the event, only members who have purchased the necessary product(s), or been assigned access by you, will be able to access the URL to your livestream, if it is displayed on a nested page.
Advance Sign-Ups: Members can sign up in advance for your live online sessions or classes. Once signed up, the event is automatically added to their personal schedule on the platform.
Notifications: Signed-up members receive automatic notifications, either through push notifications or email, reminding them of the upcoming live event. When they click these notification, they’ll be taken to the event page containing the link to join your live stream or virtual meeting.
The Activity Panel
In the admin, you will notice an ‘Activity’ section In the top of the righthand sidebar of events and classes.
You can use this section to keep track of which members have signed up to your class or event, and track their completion status after the class or event has finished.
