We're excited to announce that you can now use your own domain to link to your Movement app! This new feature allows for a truly white-labeled experience. Here's how you can set it up:
Connecting your custom domain to Movement is a straightforward process that means your app is accessible via both your original Movement subdomain and your new custom domain.
Add your domain to Movement:
Navigate to your Global App Settings
Expand the “Custom Domains” section then hit “Connect Your Domain”.
Here, you can type or paste your domain. In this example, we will be connecting the custom domain app.yourmovement.co.
🚨 Important: We highly recommend using a subdomain with your custom domain. For example, if your domain is "yourmovement.co", we recommend using a subdomain like "app", making it "app.yourmovement.co". If you want to use your apex / root domain (meaning you don’t prepend your domain with a subdomain) you’ll need to configure www / non-www redirect page rule rules with Cloudflare, which we discuss in the apex / root domain section of this guide.
4. After entering your domain, click the 'Add' button.
5. After adding your domain, a modal will appear containing instructions on how to set up the CNAME in your DNS records.
How to add the CNAME record
This process will vary slightly depending on your DNS provider / registrar. We'll provide detailed steps and screenshots for how to do this in some popular domain registrars to guide you through this process:
Once you’ve added the CNAME record in your DNS provider / registrar, it can take up to 48 hours to propagate. You can use the refresh button to check the status periodically. When the status of your domain changes from ‘Pending’ to ‘Active’ in Movement, your custom domain will now link to your Movement app and is ready to share with your community 🎉.
Using an apex / root domain
As outlined in the steps above, we highly recommend using a subdomain with your custom domain (e.g. "app.yourmovement.co").
However, it is possible to use your apex / root domain (e.g. “yourmovement.co”) depending on your DNS provider. Below we will outline how to set this up for free with Cloudflare.
