When you upload a video to Movement, it's processed and optimised for streaming by an external provider we use as part of our video infrastructure. This is what makes playback fast and reliable for your members — videos are delivered via a global content delivery network rather than being served from a single server.
Because of this, once a video has been uploaded and processed, we don't retain the original file on our end. There's no way for us — or the external provider — to retrieve or return it to you after the fact.
What this means for you
If you ever need to re-upload a video — whether you're rebuilding your content, switching platforms, or just keeping a clean library — you'll need to have the original file on hand. We can't retrieve it from our end.
Keep backup copies of your videos
We strongly recommend storing copies of your original video files somewhere you control before uploading to Movement. A few good options:
• Google Drive — generous free storage, easy to organise by course or program
• Dropbox — reliable and great for larger file sizes
• An external hard drive — a good offline backup if you're working with large libraries
Think of your uploaded videos the same way you'd think of photos you post online — once they're up, you want to make sure you still have the original somewhere safe.
Where is my uploaded video and audio stored?
